Well, hello there!

I'm Marten, the guy who writes the scripts for "Dexter". Let me begin by getting one thing straight: You may think (I know David does) that I know everything that's going to happen to Dexter, Winnipeg, Tequila and the others, but I honestly don't. Once you've made the characters up, it's amazing how independent they become. I swear, I often feel I'm just reporting their antics, sometimes laughing out loud when I see what they're up to.
I'm really a songwriter, and pretty new to cartoons. As I recall, David first mentioned the idea of a daily strip in January 1996. I loved the artwork David had done for our children's books, and thought caroons sounded like fun, so I gave it a shot. A couple of weeks later we had about two dozen scripts and most of the main characters figured out. A lot of them are based on people we know, but I won't say who...
My personal favourite is Tequila. In my eyes, she's the ultimate Good Old Girl; witty, honest, beautiful, and with a heart as big as Texas. And best of all - I'm gonna let you in on a little secret here, folks - she's a Country singer.... Well, as I told you, I don't know all that much about what's gonna happen in the strip in years to come, but I can tell you one thing: I'm pretty curious to find out!
